Three ways to help us keep your fuel deliveries coming this winter

We may be biased, but we think Holden Oil fuel truck drivers are the best in the business: they’re out there every day in all weather conditions to make sure your family stays comfortable throughout the long New England winter.
As we know all too well here on the North Shore, those conditions often include snow and ice. Maneuvering a heavy hose while navigating on slippery surfaces can be a challenge, to say the least: if a driver loses his footing, he can easily get injured.
That’s why it’s so helpful to us if you can do three simple things when snowfall or icy conditions prevail here in Massachusetts that will make timely heating oil deliveries or propane deliveries much easier for you and the rest of our fuel customers:
- Clear a path to your tank – Please remove snow, ice, and any obstacles that block the route to your heating oil fill pipe or propane tank; aim to keep at least an 18-inch path clear. It also helps to mark the location of your propane tank’s fill valve with a flag tall enough to rise above fallen or drifting snow.
- Shovel and salt your driveway – By law, we’re not allowed to deliver your fuel if it’s not safe to do so. If your driveway is covered with snow or ice, please clear and sand or salt it. Our delivery vehicles need a 9-foot to 10-foot-wide clear path in your driveway to allow enough room to maneuver. It also helps if you mark the borders of your driveway if the snow has covered them.
- Plan in advance – It’s best to place your order when your heating oil or propane level reaches no lower than the one-quarter mark – preferably before this, especially when temperatures are frigid. Doing this will give us enough notice to schedule a delivery for you. If you want to avoid the hassle of calling altogether, sign up for FREE Automatic Delivery from Holden Oil.
Did you know that we accelerate our schedule to fit in extra deliveries when severe weather is forecast? It’s just one of the reasons why we’ve managed to keep North Shore Customers safe and warm for nearly a century.
